Wyandotte casino manager fights state charges

printer friendly
The manager of the Wyandotte Nation's Kansas City casino is fighting the state's charges against him.

Lawyers for Ellis Enyart say the state has no jurisdiction over him because the alleged crimes took place on Indian land. The state raided the tribe's Class II facility in April.

The land where the facility is based is held in trust. But the National Indian Gaming Commission says it does not qualify for gaming.

The Wyandotte Nation is based in Oklahoma.
