Opinion: Anderson undermined by BIA underlings

"He is the most powerful Native American in the most powerful city in the world, but it seems he cannot do much without the support from his agency. Dave Anderson was appointed to be the Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs. He is a notch beneath the Secretary of Interior. Only the Secretary and President are his bosses.

This column may sound like we are heading up the Save the Anderson Committee. It just seems that he may well be the man for the job of transforming the Bureau of Indian Affairs into an agency which actually helps Indians not fights them."
