Choctaw Tribe's lobbying documents kept secret

Lobbying documents related to the Mississippi Band of Choctaws won't be made public under an agreement with the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, The Jackson Clarion-Ledger reports.
The tribe is one of six clients that gave at least $66 million to lobbyist Jack Abramoff and public relations executive Michael Scanlon. Chief Phillip Martin had initially defended Abramoff's work as the committee began investigating the high fees.
Martin has since changed his mind, according to Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colorado) and is cooperating with the probe. But the extent of the tribe's involvement probably won't be known until a separate investigation, involving the FBI and other entities, is concluded, the paper said.
