Police stand behind trooper in raid of reservation

The Rhode Island State Police say they stand behind a state trooper who was found to have used excessive force in the state's raid of the Narragansett Reservation.

The police said they were considering options after a federal jury awarded $301,100 to Adam Jennings, a tribal member, for being victimized during the July 14, 2003, raid. Jennings ankle was broken by trooper Kenneth Jones.

The state attorney general hasn't decided whether to appeal, a spokesperson said.
