Man charged with Aquash murder free on bail
Tuesday, November 8, 2005

John Graham, the second person charged with the murder of American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash, will remain free on bail while he challenges his extradition from Canada to the United States.

Graham was indicted in South Dakota with Aquash's murder in late 1975. He was ordered to return to the U.S. to face the charges but is appealing.

Aquash was found dead on the Pine Ridge Reservation in February 1976. The case went unsolved until Arlo Looking Cloud, an Oglala Sioux man, was charged and convicted of her murder. Looking Cloud has since lost one appeal.

Graham is Native from the Yukon Territory in Canada.
