Scanlon to cooperate in Abramoff fraud case
Wednesday, November 23, 2005

As a condition of his plea deal, former public relations consultant Michael Scanlon will cooperate in the bank fraud case of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Scanlon acted as the spokesperson for the SunCruz fleet of casino boats, a business Jack Abramoff and Adam Kidan purchased in September 2000. Abramoff and Kidan have since been indicted on bank fraud for the deal.

Scanlon will be a key witness in the case, The Miami Herald reports. 'Mike has knowledge about some things in the SunCruz case, but I'm not prepared to talk about it,'' Stephen Braga, one of Scanlon's attorneys, told the paper.

It is not known if Scanlon has any information about the murder of Konstantinos ''Gus'' Boulis, the former owner of the SunCruz fleet. In February 2001, just a few months after the purchase by Abramoff and Kidan, Boulis was murdered on the streets of Ft. Lauderdale.
