Garcia to deliver State of Indian Nations address

Joe Garcia, the new president of the National Congress of American Indians, will deliver the State of Indian Nations address today.
Garcia, the governor of Ohkay Owingeh, formerly known as San Juan Pueblo, was elected NCAI president last November. His speech, called "The Four Great Steps," will outline an agenda for Indian Country for the coming year.
"The spiritual outlook of the Indian Nations is found in The Four Directions," said Garcia. "I will look to the four directions to outline the agenda for Indian Nations and the most important issues affecting our people today."
The speech starts at 12pm at the National Press Club [
Web Site] in Washington, D.C. It will be broadcast online at
http://www.ncai.org.
At 1pm, Native America Calling [
Web Site] will discuss the speech. Guests include Garcia and Native journalists.
