Guaranis seek independent nation in South America
Wednesday, February 8, 2006

Members of the Guarani Tribe and their supporters held a five-hour march on Tuesday to call for the creation of an independent Guarani Nation in South America.

The march was held on the 250th anniversary of the death of Sepe Tiaraju, a Guarani chief. He was a leader of the Guarani resistance movement before being killed by European soldiers.

More than 5,000 people from Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Argentina and Uruguay took part in the march, PrensaLatina reported.
