Ousted Pechangas take case to U.S. Supreme Court

Former members of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday to challenge their removal from the tribe.
The 135 former members say they were wrongly terminated from the tribe. But the state courts in California, the case being appealed, have declined to get involved out of deference to tribal sovereignty.
Separately, the group has filed lawsuit in federal court to challenge their removal.
