Aquash murder suspect appeals extradition order
Friday, May 18, 2007

The Canadian man accused of murdering American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash is appealing an extradition order to the United States.

John Graham faces a trial in federal court in South Dakota for allegedly murdering Aquash on the Pine Ridge Reservation in 1975. A co-defendant, Arlo Looking Cloud, was found guilty of the crime.

Graham says he is innocent. He expects to hear a decision on his appeal by September 7.

Aquash was Mi'kmaq from Nova Scotia in Canada.
