DOJ objected to testimony from Interior attorney

The Department of Justice repeatedly objected during the testimony of an Interior Department attorney who appeared on behalf of the Cobell plaintiffs.

The government said the questions being posed to field solicitor Robert McCarthy were beyond the scope of the historical accounting. The government said McCarthy was being asked about trust asset management.

Judge James Robertson sustained some of the objections. But after he said, "This trial is about the adequacy of the accounting," the DOJ cut off its objections.

Robertson started the trial on October 10. The ninth day of testimony began today and could be wrapping up within a few days, according to the plaintiffs.
