Spirit Lake Nation asked to delay 'Sioux' vote

The Spirit Lake Nation is being asked to delay a vote on the University of North Dakota's "Fighting Sioux" nickname and logo.
The tribe plans to ask its members whether they support "Sioux." But 11 tribal members who graduated from UND say they want to present their views against the name and logo before that happens.
The 11 UND graduates say the "Sioux" name has been divisive. They prepared a
Powerpoint Presentation that discusses the history of the controversy and its effects on Indian students.
UND has agreed to eliminate the name and logo within three years unless it can get the support of Sioux tribes in the state. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has already voted against the name and logo.
