Half of Oglala Sioux Tribe police force resigned

About half of the police officers for the
Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota resigned on Tuesday, President John Yellow Bird Steele said.
The officers complained about being overworked, Steele said. He blamed the federal government for cutting funds for the tribe's law enforcement program.
The tribe has assigned some game wardens to patrol the reservation. The tribal council will meet today to discuss law enforcement issues.
The Pine Ridge Reservation is the largest in the state.
