Third man indicted in 1975 murder of Aquash
Wednesday, August 27, 2008

A third man has been charged in connection with the 1975 murder of American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash.

Vine Richard Marshall, also known as Dick Marshall, was charged with aiding and abetting the first-degree murder of Aquash. He pleaded not guilty in federal court yesterday.

Aquash, who was Mi'kmaq from Canada, was killed on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota in December 1975. One man has been found guilty of her murder and second man faces a trial after being extradited from Canada.

Marshall, 57, served 24 years in prison for the 1975 shooting death of Martin Montileaux before being paroled in 2000, the Associated Press reported.
