The
Saginaw Chippewa Tribe is hosting a conference on Wednesday to discuss climate change, energy and proposals for several coal-fired power plants in Michigan.
The tribe opposes the power plants. A resolution passed by the council cites "grave concerns" about air and water pollution, The Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun reported.
Speakers at the conference include Lee Sprague, the former ogema of the
Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, which fought a proposed power plant.
