BIA sends 10 more officers to Pine Ridge Reservation

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is sending 10 more officers to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

That brings the total number of extra officers to 35, the BIA said. The officers were sent to the reservation after half of the Oglala Sioux Tribe's police force walked off the job last month.

With the additional help, the BIA says it has spent $9.5 million on law enforcement and justice programs on the reservation. Tribal leaders have said the funding isn't enough.
