The county that is home to the
Menominee Nation was once again rated the most least healthiest place in Wisconsin..
Chairwoman Lisa Waukau wasn't surprised by the results of the annual University of Wisconsin-Madison
study. She said most people on the reservation lack health insurance and many engage in high risk behaviors.
"We are not a wealthy tribe. We are a poor tribe," Waukau told the Associated Press. "Poor people don't have the luxury of having that diet that middle class people do. We just don't have the dollars that we can pour into prevention programs."
The city of Milwaukee and Marquette County, where some tribes are based, were ranked second and third least healthy.
