Viejas Band reportedly eyes stadium naming rights
Thursday, December 4, 2008

The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians will reportedly buy the naming rights to the San Diego State University arena.

Cox Communications currently holds the rights to the Cox Arena. But The San Diego Reader said the tribe will step in when that agreement ends in June 2009.

The tribe is also interested in taking over booking of the arena when the contract with Live Nation, the largest concert company in the U.S., ends in 2012, according to the Reader. The 4,600-seat venue sees acts like Metallica and Motley Crue.

Tribal officials didn't comment on the speculation.
