Natives in Canada support Mohawks on border

A "Peace Caravan" with more than 200 people came to the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario on Tuesday to support the ongoing Mohawk border protest.
Representatives from First Nations across Canada said they support the Mohawks, who are opposed the arming of guards at the border. "Basically, this is all about support for us and talking to each other, sharing stories," organizer Nona Benedict told The Watertown Daily Times. "It's all about peace and unity."
Mohawks plan to continue the protest until the Canadian government sits down and discusses border issues. So far, they say that hasn't happened.
The
Mohawk Council of Akwesasne plans to sue Canada over the closure of the border station and the Seaway International Bridge. On the U.S. side, the
St. Regis Mohawk Tribe in New
York says it has lost business due to the bridge closure.
