Governor supports tribe's land request

Louisiana Governor Mike Foster (R) wrote Secretary of Interior Gale Norton in support of the Jena Choctaw Tribe's request to create a 54-acre reservation.
The tribe was recognized by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1994 but still has no land. The tribe hopes to open a casino when its reservation is established.
Foster negotiated a compact with the tribe last year but former Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb rejected it.
